My Professional Journey
My professional journey began more than 30 years ago, when I first started learning and applying behavioral approaches to support children with autism and other developmental differences.
Since then, I've had the privilege of working with children and families across a wide range of ages, abilities, learning environments, and support needs.
My career has included direct educational and behavioral support, classroom instruction, special education consultation, school-based behavior analysis, clinical leadership, and district-level systems improvement.
I've served in roles including:
- Classroom educator and special education professional
- School-based Board Certified Behavior Analyst and district behavior specialist
- Clinical Director of School Services
- Regional Director and Interim Chief Clinical Officer - private sector
- Educational consultant and school district advisor
- Professional trainer, mentor, and systems-level leader
Throughout these roles, I've worked alongside families, teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams.
I've helped young children develop early communication, play, and social skills; supported students navigating complex behavioral and educational needs; guided families through special education decisions; and coached educators in developing practical, effective supports.
At the leadership level, I've directed clinical programs, developed professional training initiatives, supported inclusive educational practices, and helped organizations strengthen their systems for serving students with diverse needs.
My experience includes work with public school districts, university-affiliated educational programs, and professional organizations committed to improving educational quality and outcomes.
This combination of direct experience and systems-level leadership gives me a unique perspective: I understand both the individual child and the educational systems that influence their opportunities and success.
I know how complicated school processes can feel from a family's perspective, and I understand the policies, practices, and organizational realities that shape educational decisions.
That perspective is central to the guidance I provide through THRIVE.
